Common questions

How long does it take to get an Iqama?

Your employer must issue it within 90 days of your arrival. In practice many are ready within two to six weeks, once the medical and biometrics are complete.

Who pays the dependant fee in Saudi Arabia?

The resident normally pays SAR 400 per dependant per month, settled when the Iqama is renewed. Some employers reimburse it, so check your contract.

Is a compound better than an apartment?

Compounds offer pools, schools nearby and a ready community, but they can cost two to three times as much. Apartments give more space for the money and more contact with local life.
