Which bank should I pick?

Al Rajhi BankLargest branch and ATM network, popular remittance service, fully Sharia-compliant
Saudi National Bank (SNB)Largest bank by assets, wide corporate links
Riyad BankStrong app and credit cards
stc bank, urpayDigital wallets for everyday transfers

What do I need?

  • A valid Iqama
  • A Saudi phone number registered to your Iqama
  • A National Address
  • Your salary certificate from your employer, in some cases

How do cards work day to day?

Almost everywhere takes mada, contactless and Apple Pay. Foreign cards work widely too, but you may pay a conversion fee. Cash is still useful in small souqs.

What is the cheapest way to send money home?

Compare the exchange rate and the fee together. Al Rajhi's Tahweel, urpay and stc bank are widely used, and a rate that looks strong may carry a higher fee. Check SAMA's list of licensed providers before trying a new one.

What about my salary?

Private-sector salaries are paid through the Wage Protection System into a local account, so opening one early matters.
