What are the luggage rules?

Passengers can bring one large item up to 25 kg, measuring about 65 x 55 x 35 cm, plus one piece of hand luggage. Staff can refuse oversized bags, and pilgrim groups with extra cases are often better off sending them by road.

What about ihram on the train?

If you travel from Madinah to Makkah for Umrah, the miqat is at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali). Enter ihram before you board, because the train will not stop there. Prayer rooms are available on board and at stations.

How early should I arrive?

Allow at least an hour for security and boarding, and more during Ramadan and school holidays. Book early for those periods, because trains sell out.
